Out of School Learning

With the school closed at the moment, we want to give everyone the opportunity to continue their education and to maintain routines. We have put together some ideas of ways that children can continue their education from home.

At the moment, these are short tasks and ideas, which are appropriate for a short period of self-isolation. If the situation changes and we find ourselves in a situation where children will need to be away from school for a longer period of time, class teachers will update the information available and may ask for pieces of work to be sent to them by email for marking. This will enable effective feedback to continue and for children to maintain contact with their teachers.

All children in school have a username and password for both Mathletics and Times Table Rock Stars and both of these sites provide good maths practice opportunities, where there is an opportunity, as well, for teachers to set work for individual children.

One of the most important things that any child can do to develop their learning is to read widely. We encourage children to read as much as possible at home and to write about what they have read. The school has access to the Reading Cloud for our library software. Children can log in using the username and password that we will email to you. They then have the opportunity to write reviews of books that they have read that can be read by other children. If you want to access some free e-reading books, Oxford Owl is providing these. You will need to register for the site, but books are then available for free.

Mrs Carvill has also put together some ideas for exercises that children (or whole families) can do while self-isolating. Please click here to see her letter.

The Oxford Diocese have also put resources together for R.E. and reflection, while children are off. If your child would like to access these, please click here.

Mr Harvey will be posting a weekly assembly online. To access this week's click here.
