L.O. To write a diary entry in the first person

Read Chapter 4 of the AoNR and Chapter 5.

Celeste stands up to Barry to support Penny in the playground. Think about Chapter 4 and how the character of Marigold is changing. What is Celeste’s part in this change?

Think about Chapter 5 and whether it was OK for Celeste to trip Barry up because he was teasing Penny. If someone had told a teacher, who would have got in trouble – Barry or Celeste? Does this action support the idea that she is an angel? What else could she have done?

Pretend that you saw a boy called Barry teasing a girl called Penny in the St Nics playground and that you tripped him up deliberately to stop him. The teacher on duty was Mr Hay.

In your books

Write a diary entry about what happened to you from the moment you saw Penny being bullied.

Fri

L.O.   To use information from a text to show understanding of a character

Resource Complete a WANTED poster

Think about all the events in the story so far and re-read your notes about the shameful things that Barry has done to Mark, Penny, and Marigold. He has been called a ‘bully’ by Celeste. Do you think he is? What does a bully do? What is bullying?

RESOURCE - WANTED POSTER

Draw and complete a WANTED poster for Barry Hunter and his crimes. List as many things as you can that you know he has done to bully people. Look at the different ways he does it too.

  • Why?

Kiki Sorts It Out
